Modular Configurations - Core Units allow for side, rear and top access configurations. Our 4-size system offers many possible layouts to customize the amount of camera and adventure gear for the day ahead of you. One Medium Core Unit combined with two Small Core Units offers the largest number of useful configurations. This system also ensures you never carry more padding and weight than absolutely necessary to protect the day’s camera kit, and that all remaining pack space can be dedicated to clothing and personal gear.
Mirrorless and DSLR Camera Capacity - The Small Core Unit is designed to hold a mirrorless or non-gripped DSLR body with a mounted lens up to 70-200mm 2.8. It can optionally hold 2-3 lenses and accessories. Paired with a second Small Core Unit, a user can create numerous gear access configurations from the side, rear and top of the bag.
Versatile Core Skins - Each Unit comes with a removable Skin. The skin can be used as a sealed dust-free storage case when your camera gear is not in use, or a packing cell for an added layer of organization for loose items like clothing and safety equipment. The Small Skin includes an adjustable strap to use it as a convenient, lightweight shoulder bag for a quick hike out of basecamp or a walk around a new city.
Perfect Fit - We sized our Core Units to fit perfectly in both the Shimoda backpacks and the Carry On Roller. The fit ensures that space is never wasted and packing is simple.
EVA Side Walls and Dividers - Core Units are constructed with compression molded EVA sidewalls and dividers, providing high-density protection without excess weight or materials. Our one-piece construction and intelligent shapes makes insert and divider set-up easy.
High-Visibility Color - The Core Unit interior is a bright-yet-subtle blue color, which makes locating items inside the unit simple and obvious.
Minimalist Construction - The Jersey exterior shell and Tricot lining are laminated to the EVA. By tightening up and simplifying the design in this way, we can eliminate any sloppiness and movement with dividers. The shape of the actual divider tabs has a unique inward taper. This simple concept makes setting up and adjusting the Core Unit much easier by limiting the catching of the fastener and the pulling on the sidewall material.
